  wmy:People like using proverbs when giving advice to their friends because they are short, wise sayings and easy to remember.

  Yesterday(17th of August ) I put up many Chinese Proverbs (they are all from email) on "Chinese Language Column" of our《Bazhong Online》(Please browse to:http://bazhong5069.868cn.net/t2873-topic), those proverbs indicated there are many mean examples to the contrary.

  Similar things have happened in English proverbs, we can find two proverbs with opposite meanings, for example:

"Look before you leap." (this means think carefully before you do somethings important.)三思而後行。

"He who hesitates is lost." (that is, you must make up your mind quickly or it may be too late.) 當機立斷。

"Absence makes the hearts grow fonder."(離久情密。)

"Out of sight, out of mind."(眼不見,心不煩。)

"Too many cooks spoil the broth."(廚師太多燒壞湯。)

"Many hands make light work."(人多好辦事。)

"Nothing ventured, nothing won."(不入虎穴,焉得虎子。)

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."(雙鳥在林不如一鳥在手。)
