狼和小羊
狼很想吃掉小羊，但是狼轉念一想：“我要是就這麼把小羊吃了，萬一讓別的動物看見了。容易説我的閒話，我得找一個合理的藉口吃掉小羊，這樣既能飽餐一頓，又不被別的動物説閒話。”於是狼就故意找碴兒，説：“小東西，你把我喝的水弄髒了！害我喝不到乾淨的水了，你安的什麼心？”小羊以前從來沒見過狼，不知道狼要吃它。就對狼説：“狼先生，這條河是大家的，不是你一個人的。況且我怎麼可能會把您喝的水弄髒呢？您站在上游，我站在下游。水是從您那兒流到我這兒來的，不是從我這兒流到您那兒去的。”
狼見這個藉口行不通，又換一個藉口。説：“就算是這樣吧，你總是個壞傢伙！我聽別的動物説，你去年在背地裏説我的壞話，憑這點我就可以吃掉你！”
小羊聽了更着急了，它喊起來：“啊！狼先生！那怎麼可能呢？去年我還沒有出生呢！而且我和你無冤無仇，我為什麼要罵你呢？”
狼知道自己難不倒小羊，就對小羊説：“即使你很能辯解，但是今天我還是要吃掉你！”説着，就往小羊身上撲去。
小羊絕望的喊道：“你這個狡猾的壞傢伙！你找那麼多荒唐的藉口，不過是想把我吃掉罷了！”
可是狼已經聽不到這些了，它心裏想的是終於可以飽餐一頓了。單純的小羊哪裏知道，狼無論找多少個藉口，最終的目的都是要把它當成一頓美餐吃掉，所以我們要學會保護自己，不和陌生人説話。

The wolf and the lamb
Once upon a time a Wolf was lapping at a spring on a hillside, when, looking up, what should he see but a Lamb just beginning to drink a little lower down. ‘There’s my supper,’ thought he, ‘if only I can find some excuse to seize it.’ Then he called out to the Lamb, ‘How dare you muddle the water from which I am drinking?’
‘Nay, master, nay,’ said Lambikin; ‘if the water be muddy up there, I cannot be the cause of it, for it runs down from you to me.’
‘Well, then,’ said the Wolf, ‘why did you call me bad names this time last year?’
‘That cannot be,’ said the Lamb; ‘I am only six months old.’
‘I don’t care,’ snarled the Wolf; ‘if it was not you it was your father;’ and with that he rushed upon the poor little Lamb and ate her all up. But before she died she gasped out .’Any excuse will serve a tyrant.
