When Gandhiji was studying law at the University College of London, there was a professor,  whose last name was Peters, who felt animosity for Gandhiji, and because Gandhi never lowered his head towards him, their "arguments" were very common.

Gandhiji 在倫敦大學學院讀法律時，有個名叫Peters的教授。這位教授對他懷有敵意，因為Gandhiji 面對他時從來不曾低下他的頭，兩人間的“爭執”成了家常便飯的事。

One day, Mr. Peters was having lunch at the dining room of the University and Gandhi came along with his tray and sat next to the professor. The professor, in his arrogance, said, "Mr Gandhi: you do not understand... a pig and a bird do not sit together to eat ", to which Gandhi replies, "Do not worry professor, I'll fly away ", and he went and sat at another table.

一天，Peters 先生在大學的飯堂吃午餐，Gandhi 手捧托盤在教授旁邊坐下。教授以傲慢的口吻對他說：“Gandhi先生，你就不懂了......豬和鳥是不可能坐在一起吃東西的。” Gandhi回應說：“不用擔心，教授，我會飛走的。”說著他挪到另一飯桌進餐。

An angry Mr. Peters, decided to take revenge in the next test, but Gandhiji responds brilliantly to all questions. Then, Mr. Peters asked him the following question, "Mr Gandhi, if you are walking down the street and find a package, and within it there is a bag of wisdom and another bag with a lot of money. which one would you take?"

生氣的Peters 先生決定在下一回的測驗進行報復，然而Gandhiji 出色地應對所有的問題。接下來，Peters 先生問他問題：“Gandhiji先生，假如你在街上走時撿到一個包包，包裡面有一袋裝著智慧，另一袋裝著大量的錢，你會拿哪一個袋子？”

Without hesitating, Gandhi responded, "The one with the money, of course!"

Gandhi 毫不猶豫的回答：“當然拿裝著錢的那一袋啦！”

Mr. Peters, smiling, said, "I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom."

Peters 先生微笑著說：“要是處在你的地位，我會挑智慧那袋。”

"Each one takes what one doesn't have", responded Gandhi indifferently.

“每個人都會挑自己原本沒有的，”Gandhi 淡漠地回答。

Mr. Peters, totally upset, writes on the exam sheet the word "idiot" and gives it to Gandhi. Gandhi takes the exam sheet and sits down. A few minutes later, Gandhi goes to the professor and says, "Mr. Peters, you've signed the sheet, but you have not given me the grade."

Peters 先生被搞到徹底的心煩意亂，於是在測驗卷上寫上“白痴”交給Gandhi ，Gandhi 拿回測驗卷坐下。幾分鐘後，Gandhi 走向教授，對他說：“Peters 先生，你已經在測驗卷上簽名，可是你還沒有給我評等級呢！”
